Who better can show you the exceptional nuances that this paradise has to offer than one who lives it on a daily basis?  Myra Davis has called Belfair home for the last 9 years.  Myra and her husband Jerry could have chosen anywhere in Bluffton or Hilton Head Island to reside, but it was Belfair Plantation that captured their hearts.

Belfair was established in 1811 when William Telfair of Savannah married Betsey Bellinger. The Bellinger and Telfair names were united to name their new plantation Belfair. Belfair was originally a country estate and working plantation devoted to agriculture. In the 1920s Belfair's new owner, William Mosely Swain, planted the oaks that now constitute the magnificent Avenue of Oaks. Belfair Plantation, LLC, the developer of Belfair, purchased the property in September, 1994. Belfair, today, is a private golf club community that consists of 730 homesites and a maximum membership of 770.  The Plantation offers 33-acres of protected freshwater wetlands; natural preserves include Hidden Lake and a rookery. Hundreds of species of birds including egrets, ibis, eagles, osprey and endangered wood storks as well as a wide variety of wildlife including fox squirrels, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and red fox.

GOLF

The pride of Belfair is the two Fazio golf courses, both nationally recognized and both boasting five sets of tees and each it's unique design.  The West Course is a parklands design with bermuda grass greens and the East Course is a links design with bent gress greens.

Additionally, the Jim Ferree Learning Center offers a 29 acre teaching facility with outdoor and covered driving ranges.  Three large putting greens and two short course holes to practice short irons, sand shots, and chip shots. Indoor driving suite fully equipped with video swing analysis technology.  Full time instructors are ready to help you improve your golf game.

FITNESS/TENNIS

Belfair is complete with a fully equipped 9,200 sq.ft. Activity Center offering indoor and outdoor pools and a complete selection of fitness equipment, programs and classes. The Center also features six Har-Tru tennis courts, outdoor soccer/lacrosse field, basketball court, playground area and pathways for walking, running, and biking.

OWNERSHIP/MEMBERSHIP

Belfair is owned and goverened by its 750 members.  Approximately 90 members serve on 11 Belfair Committees or the Board.  The Property Owners Association is solid, with substantial capital reserve. There are over 25 clubs available for virtually any special interest group.

FACILITIES

The 32,000 square foot clubhouse offers formal and informal dining, a wonderful menu selection and impeccable service, as well as full banquet capabilities.  The clubhouse also features the Golf Pro shop, meeting rooms, locker rooms, sauna and steam rooms and card rooms.

Belfair Plantation is a gated community with 24 hour security.

REAL ESTATE

There are 750 homesites in the Plantation with approximately 325 homes built to date.  Homes range in price from $500,000 to over $2.5 million.  Lots are priced at $100,000 to $700,000.  There are also private golf cottages available for rental by guests or non-members.
